Contemporary art in history museum
For the first time the Swiss national museum at Prangins in Canton Vaud is staging an exhibition of contemporary art. Entitled "Net Art" it features tapestries by eight painters and sculptors.
Each of the artists – from France, Spain, Greece and Switzerland’s three main linguistic regions – is presenting a textile creation in parallel with recent works in their own particular artistic field of expression.
For some of them it is their first experience of tapestry art.
The exhibition has been organised by the Aubusson Association, an organisation which is seeking to show the public how tapestry is a living art and an integral part of contemporary means of expression.
It ends on September 10.
