Dieter Ammann – Grammont Portrait. Chamber music works 1998-2009. casalQuartett, Mondrian Ensemble, Tecchler Trio & Amar Quartett
Contemporary. This year's composer in residence at the Lucerne Festival is Swiss Dieter Ammann. He came to early eminence playing Europe-wide in crossover jazz groups but eventually jumped boats and started a career as classical composer. Due to his slow pace when composing music he has created a rather small but very distinct oeuvre to date, which has won him international praise among peers. In Ammann's chamber music you can hear the strong impression Bartok and Ligeti have left on him. For sure this is challenging but hearable music which owes probably much to this composer's past as improvising musician.
