The Murder Of Amus Ames is a sax-bass-drums combo around reedist Florian Egli, fortified by their mentor and tenor saxist Christoph Grab on four selections. This debut cd with the unhumble title displays solely originals. But the band surprises with a wide range of dynamics. Still pieces give way to driving and swinging modal jazz. All in all, a noteworthy newcomer start.
