National Future Day is a chance for children to visit their parents’ places of work and explore potential careers. On Thursday, around 25 young people came to SWI swissinfo.ch and the headquarters of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) in Bern.
At the television studios they were introduced to the cameras used to film politicians and government leaders. They were shown how to use lights for special effects and perform Harry Potter-like tricks with a green screen. Many of the children said that looking behind the scenes of television production was a highlight of the day.
At swissinfo.ch, with its ten language services, they found out more about the Russian, Japanese and Chinese cultures by doing a quiz. They also tried out a game on some virtual reality viewers.
