Comfortable win puts Federer ahead in Hamburg
Defending champion Roger Federer cruised to the semi-finals at the Hamburg Masters on Friday, defeating the 28th-ranked Fernando Verdasco.
The Swiss tennis star and world number one dispatched the unseeded Spaniard in 80 minutes by a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 margin.
Federer, who still lacks a major title for 2008, was joined in the final four by rivals Rafael Nadel and Novak Djokovic, who will face each other.
Federer will play Italian Andreas Seppi on Saturday.
The Swiss player has won four of the last six tournaments in the German city and beat left-handed clay-court specialist Nadal in last year’s final.
