Federer loses Miami quarter-final
World number one Roger Federer has lost his quarter-final against American Andy Roddick 6-7, 6-4, 3-6 at the Miami Open tennis tournament.
It is the only the second defeat for the Swiss star in 17 career meetings against Roddick.
Federer was dictated to for a set and a half and only found some form in the ninth game of the second set to level the match.
“This time it went his way. I am just sort of disappointed not to see my name
playing in the finals,” Federer said on Thursday.
Twelve-times Grand Slam winner Federer, who suffered from glandular fever at the beginning of the year, has yet to reach a final this year.
