Hockey squad routs Denmark 7-2

Seven different players scored for the Swiss side in a 7-2 rout against Denmark on Sunday afternoon at the World Ice Hockey Championship.

The game in Quebec City also saw Switzerland outshoot the Danes 54-20, including 23-2 in the second period alone.

Switzerland had entered the third period with a 6-0 lead before the Danish team scored twice.

The lopsided game drew 8,338 spectators and placed the Swiss team temporarily in second place in their qualifying round group, tied with the Czech Republic.

Switzerland is said to be benefiting from a smaller North American rink, roughly four metres narrower than the European standard, and used for the first time in the 100-year history of the championship.

The players from Switzerland will face a strong Russian squad on Monday.
