Kuoni undertakes major restructuring

Switzerland's largest travel and tourism group, Kuoni, announced on Monday plans for a major shake-up. As of next year, the travel group based in Zurich will no longer be organised according to geographical regions, but according to their functions.

The accounting system will remain the same however, Kuoni said, in order to facilitate comparisons with past years’ performances.

New operational groups are due to be created. Notably, the “Charter” group (including Switzerland, Scandinavia, and Austria), the separate group “Specialist on Great Britain and the United States”, which will reorganise the tour operators in the field, and the group “Europe Specialists” (Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and France).

An “Emerging Markets” group is to merge the travel offices in India and Hong Kong, while the “Incoming Services” group of specialised companies will take responsibility for tourists in Europe, the United States and Kenya.

“Business Trips”, “Finance” and “Information Technology” groups complete the list. This reorganisation was set in motion in 1999.
