Lembo leads Tour de Suisse
France's Eddy Lembo took the leader's jersey after the first stage of the Tour de Suisse on Wednesday.
The Oktos rider stands 49 seconds ahead of Switzerland's Alex Zülle in the overall rankings, after completing the 1,712km route from the central Swiss town of Lucerne to Schaffhausen in the north of the country. Lembo's time was 4 hours, 18 minutes, 36 seconds.
Germany's Sven Teutenberg came in just over a minute behind Lembo, followed by third-placed Fred Rodriguez of the United States, Spain's Miguel Angel Martin Perdiguero and Italian Daniele Bennati.
Zülle won Tuesday's time trial prologue in Lucerne. Next in the overall standings after Wednesday's stage is third-placed Giuseppe Di Grande of Italy, 55 seconds behind
Lembo. He is followed by the Switzerland's Laurent Dufaux, at 56 seconds, and Italy's Davide Rebellin.
On Thursday, the riders will cover the mostly straight route from Schaffhausen to Domat Ems in the central Swiss mountains. The 191km course includes few climbs, but is tougher in the last 30km.
