Switzerland’s Kratochvil through to Tashkent second round
The Swiss tennis player, Michel Kratochvil, has made it through to the second round of the ATP tournament in Tashkent. He beat Thomas Behrend in straight sets on Tuesday.
With his 6-3, 6-2 win over the German, Kratochvil joins compatriot George Bastl in the second round of the $525,000 dollar tournament. Bastl has made a great start there, knocking out the number three seed, France’s Cédric Pioline, in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
The 25-year-old from canton Vaud appears to like the air in Uzbekistan. In last year’s tournament he reached the final only to be beaten by Germany’s Nicolas Kiefer.
Bastl will be hoping to experience déjà vu in the second round when he comes up against the French qualifier Anthony Dupuis. Dupuis was one of the opponents who Bastl defeated en route to last year’s final.
