Pfadi with homework to do

A six-goal deficit stands between Pfadi Winterthur and a place in the final of handball's European Challenge Cup.

The Swiss side lost the away leg of their semi-final encounter with Poland’s Slask Wroclaw 28-34 on Sunday. With six minutes of the match remaining, Pfadi had succeeded in narrowing Wroclaw’s lead to just two goals. But the Polish side took advantage of some sloppy play by Winterthur and a double powerplay opportunity to score four goals in the closing stages.

Pfadi have just a week to prepare for the second leg, with the two sides due to meet again in Winterthur on Sunday. The side from canton Zurich are looking to become the first Swiss handball team to reach a European final in 14 years.
