Profits up at Unilabs

Laboratory testing group Unilabs has reported a 5.3 per cent increase in pretax profit for its financial year to May 31, 2001, and said it expected a sales growth of 23 per cent in the next financial year.

Pretax profit at the Geneva-based company rose to SFr22.5 million ($13.4 million) from SFr21.4 million.

The company said in its results statement on Tuesday that it was confident of being able to maintain a return-on-equity ratio of more than 20 per cent for the year 2001/02.

Sales over the year rose 13.6 per cent to SFr186.6 million. Organic growth accounted for 7.3 per cent of the sales rise, compared with growth of three per cent for the sector, the company said in a statement.
