Rosset narrowly defeated in Toulouse
Switzerland's Marc Rosset has been knocked out of the Toulouse Open in the second round. In a close run match, he finally fell to Spain's Carlos Moya.
Rosset matched his opponent game for game across three gruelling sets, all of which went to tiebreaks.
He dropped the first set 6-7 (4-7), recovered to win the second 7-6 (7-5), before finally losing the third, and the match, 6-7 (7-9).
Rosset, who is 35th in the ATP rankings - nine places higher than Moya - has a dismal record against the Spaniard. The match in Toulouse marked his fifth defeat in their six encounters so far.
Rosset's only victory against Moya was in the quarterfinals at Munich in 1996.
Meanwhile, Rosset's compatriot, George Bastl, has been knocked out of the Shanghai Open. Bastl, ranked 96th in the ATP table, was defeated in two sets by 20th-ranked Nicolas Lapentti of Equador.
