I'm looking for information to go back and offer my son the opportunity to live his nationality, to know his country and to have a better future. I'm looking for work or advice from a distance, but I can't find any options for Swiss people abroad... I would like to make a well planned return...

Actually, we will be moving back to Canada after returning to Switzerland some years ago to give our two children the opportunity to attend secondary school and learn a profession via apprenticeship and/or study here in Switzerland, my homeland.
It was always clear, that after my retirement we would be returning back to Canada. Our children are also very happy that we go back since they were born in Canada and spend the first ten, resp. six years there. Switzerland has given both of them a good education, solid first work experience and they’re excited to get started back in Canada. We travelled back to Canada every year to visit family and for vacation since my wife is Canadian, so it’s going home for all of us.
We really miss the great outdoors within a few hours of driving, absolute nature pure, no people all around, nobody yelling at when you make a camp fire, just mother nature and us. This was also the major reason that I stayed in Canada back in 1973, the unbelievable vastness, the enormity and diversity of nature in this great country ! Of course cities like Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver are just unbelievable with each of them offering a wide range of everything ones heart desires be that culture, sports, entertainment, culinary delights and lots more.
As I have always said, Switzerland is a post card country, great for vacation but living and working here comes at a large price. No wonder that Switzerland has the highest percentage of people in the industrialized world which change occupation from their original profession more than any other nationality. I personally know of a bunch of people who are already on their 3rd or even 4th different education/training/study, all of them between 30 and 40 years old ! Having to make a career decision already with 12, 13 years old of what to do when one leaves school with 16, to go on the Gymnasium and study or opt for an apprenticeship/trade school, is just too early. The amount of burn-outs in young people as well as middle aged ones is astounding, high suicide rates and general every day performance pressure contributing to all of it. Everything is regulated to the hilt with the federal, cantons and community government officials who still invent new and more absurd laws every year. What I had to go through to put up a simple stone grill/pizza oven and a garden shed in my backyard, on my own ground and property and cost me a lot of nerves and money with all the permits etc. that were needed, all in all just unbelievable ! Something like that never happens in Canada, You own a property, it’s yours and you can put up whatever you like to a certain size. Of course if you plan to build a “Stöckli” beside your main residence, you will need a building permit. But for a Grill/Pizza oven, a Pergola, an outside Fireplace or garden shed you just do it, no problem !
So yes, we very much look forward to the move even though the CoVid-19 issue has delayed us somewhat, but we will go next summer and return to Switzerland for a nice vacation once in a while.

Nobody is forcing anybody to get injected here and your comparison of big business / industry with Hitler and the French Revolution just doesn't make any sense at all in the contex to the article by Melanie Eichenberger.
Our family is also slowly moving away from Switzerland and we're moving our dental center. Switzerland is really unfriendly to foreigners. In Germany we can get a citizenship and we'll be considered Germans in 6 years. Switzerland will never accept us in our life times. They say it is 3 generations. Obviously they don't need highly qualified doctors, so we're taking our clinic with its 6 doctors and we're moving.

I discussed this very matter with a doctor several weeks ago, and she was very outspoken about the fact that a vaccine needs 2-5 years of testing to expose possible side effects. I don’t think anyone would want a recurrence of ‘Pandemrix’ vaccine, which was quickly administered during the SARS pandemic (especially in Sweden and Finland) and revealed a high number of narcolepsy cases which cannot be cured!
I find a handing out vaccine which had all of 4 or 5 months of testing irresponsible and dangerous.
I would wait a bit to be inoculated. Normally a drug needs extensive testing before it is brought to market. One of the reasons the FDA was created was because of the side effect of Thalidomide in the 1960s.
It depends on your age and health. I would take the vaccine as soon as possible as I’m over 50, take medication for high blood pressure and am a smoker, so fall in the higher risk group for getting seriously ill if I get COVID-19. The small risk associated with any new vaccine would be worth it in my case.
For younger people who are healthy and younger than 40, it would depend on the availability of the vaccine as I feel older and higher risk people should be vaccinated first.
I will take the vaccination without hesitation. We should be making more effort for ourselves, following the hygiene and distancing rules and avoiding private gatherings. Like they are doing in Asia. Instead there is a tendency here to blame politicians for everything. It's not their job to wash our hands.
Forced vaccination? We're leaving and all of us are handing back our Swiss passports. I was born here and so were our 4 children but forced vaccination is too much. We're done.
Our 3 children never left Austria and stayed there. My husband is Swiss but he said that if the vaccine law passes making it mandatory aka at the doctor's discretion, then he'll hand in his Swiss passport and keep his Austrian passport so we leave the country. We're already considering leaving and just to make it easy we already sold our home.
This is a brand new virus and a brand new vaccine.
If not mandated by law, I will not take it.

My mother is Swiss and we came to visit because she is ill and ended up getting stuck here. When the lockdowns are over in spring I will leave back to Japan. The kids can stay here if they will be sick after the vaccines.
I have a New Zealand and Singapore passport and my wife is Swiss. With the current insanity we're considering closing our Swiss software company, selling our apartment and moving to Singapore. They are more reasonable over there and their laws are not dictated by the EU like in Switzerland.
Things are too chaotic, so I would rather close the business and let the Swiss government deal with the 31 developers without a job. It is too risky to have them all come to the office and no point in any of them having to work from home just to pay them extra, based on the recent court rulings.
I'm quite sad. We planned to stay here when I moved the company from New Zealand, but now we're packing everything.
No, I won't be moving back to Switzerland. I won't even be visiting soon. Australia is much safer right now.
I don't think so. Italy was so scared when it had to face the first wave in Europe without the medical know-how that was later transferred to all other European clinics. With the result that now it is the safest place to be thanks to the preventive measures and the behaviour of the population. I traveled back to Switzerland many times since and was shocked how people are careless and public measures so timid.
I regret coming back, my husband as a saniter was called by army for 61 day to help in march. Yesterday they told him again to go, only very few day counted towards fulfillment of army. I have one question there are around 6000 army saniters in Switzerland, only 1500 was called in the second wave why do you call the same people... I regret such policies, it is so unfair especially that they don't even count the days in, and called the same people again rather than to call other part of saniter. We will leave Switzerland until covid will be forgoten right at the moment when he can get form army.

I'm happy to be locked down in Italy, it looks more secure than Switzerland
Id like to return to catch up with my kids, but fishing and surfing in Coral Bay, Western Australia seems the best option at the moment..👍

No way! Switzerland turned to one of the worse countries regarding to COVID-19 cases. In Southeast Asia people are more disciplined in following hygienic measures.
