Swiss snowboard team tune into I-Pod

Switzerland has named former Russian national Iouri Podladtchikov to its snowboard halfpipe team for the Vancouver Olympics.

Podladtchikov grew up in the Swiss mountain resort of Davos and changed nationality after competing for Russia in Turin at age 17, when American Shaun White won the halfpipe gold medal.

Podladtchikov, known on the circuit as I-Pod, won the halfpipe World Cup title in 2008.

The four-man Switzerland team includes 2003 world champion Markus Keller, Sergio Berger and Christian Haller.

The Swiss also named four-time World Cup champion Manuela Pesko and Ursina Haller to the women’s halfpipe team.

Pesko was seventh at the 2006 Turin Winter Games and came out of retirement for the Olympic season.
