This content was published on Feb 27, 2026 For 25 years, around 15 works by the elusive British street artist Banksy have adorned the walls of the underground car park at the Swiss embassy in London.

An explosion at the Tätsch test and training facility in Illnau-Effretikon in canton Zurich on Wednesday, February 25, sent shockwaves up to 10 kilometres across the surrounding area. “My building was shaking,” said my colleague who lives in Winterthur. A private explosives company was attempting to destroy several hundred kilograms of material at the site. The explosives were meant to burn but detonated instead, creating a crater several metres wide. Two people sustained minor injuries. Investigations are ongoing, according to Zurich cantonal police.
