Vega heads to Celtic

The Swiss international defender Ramon Vega has moved to the Scottish club Celtic. A spokesman for the Glasgow side said Vega had signed a contract on Friday for the rest of the season.

Vega transferred from the English club Tottenham for an undisclosed sum. Tottenham themselves bought the player from Italy's Cagliari in 1997 for the equivalent of SFr9 million.

Having passed a medical, the 29 year-old is expected to play his first game for the Scottish league leaders on Saturday, versus Aberdeen.
