More trouble brewing for SAirGroup

Eric Honegger admits there are differences of opinion over his contract Keystone Archive

Beleaguered SAirGroup shareholders were forced to digest further bad news ahead of next week's annual general meeting after it was reported that the company's former chairman, Eric Honegger, is owed salary up until 2005.

Honegger resigned from the board shortly before the Swiss airline group posted record SFr2.9 billion ($1.65 billion) losses at the beginning of this month.

But according to the German language weekly, Weltwoche, Honegger is demanding that the company honour a new contract, signed in December last year.

The contract is said to entitle Honegger to an annual salary up until 2005, bonuses and free first class travel for both him and his wife.

In a statement issued Friday, Honegger strongly denied the claims; however he did admit there was a difference of opinion between himself and SAirGroup over his contract.
