Geneva attracts French investor
The French specialist book and music retailer, FNAC, will open its first Swiss shop in Geneva this autumn.
FNAC will open the store in the centre of Geneva in October or November, with a second store opening just outside the city in the Balexert shopping centre in the spring of 2001.
The managing director of FNAC Switzerland, Philip Gelay, said the move to Geneva was the opening of a bridgehead into the Swiss market.
“Our objective is to open a shop in Switzerland every six months. After the two Geneva openings, we envisage others in Lausanne, Basel, Zurich and other towns,” said Gelay.
FNAC will employ 100 staff at its downtown Geneva location, with another 60 jobs being created at its Balexert site.
