The Mikron Technology Group, which is based in Biel, has reported dynamic growth in its markets of mobile telephony, medical technology, electrical engineering and the automotive industry.
Mikron announced that despite the abbreviated 11-month financial year 1999, it had met its 12-month net earnings target of SFr28 million.
“Mikron expects an even faster rate of growth for the current financial year 2000…Sales are set to rise by 30 per cent and earnings to surge by 40 per cent,” a statement said.
It added that orders in 1999 were up by 17 per cent to SFr560.5 million and net sales rose by 14 per cent to SFr512.3 million.
The new Mikron Infocom Technology division, which has been consolidated for seven months, contributed SFr103.5 million to the total sales volume.
The statement said the budget outlook was based on three key elements:
· a generally good economic climate
· positive growth on the markets on which Mikron operates
· a strong market position for the Mikron divisions.
Last month, Mikron announced that the boom in the worldwide mobile telephone market was driving it to expand production rapidly, with plans to open a new plant in Norway and enlarge facilities in Europe and Asia.
