Nestlé sales up ten per cent

Nestlé is upbeat about its prospects for 2002 Keystone

The world's largest food company, Nestlé, announced a 10.1 per cent jump in first-quarter sales to SFr21.3 billion, falling short of market expectations.

Most analysts expected the company to reach a real internal growth (RIG) – a measure that removes the effects of price changes, currency movements and acquisitions – of around four percent, rather than the actual 3.3 percent announced on Thursday.
