Swiss franc loses ground against dollar, pound and yen
The Swiss franc has lost ground versus the US dollar, the British pound and the Japanese yen. The national currency has remained stable against the euro.
Last month, the franc lost 3.9 per cent of its value against the US dollar according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), 3.7 per cent against the yen and 2.6 per cent against the British pound.
Versus European currencies included in the euro zone, the franc has remained stable. The index of the nominal exchange rate for August was 152.2 points, down one per cent from July.
The real (with inflation subtracted) exchange rate index reached 108 points in August, down 1.7 points from the same time last year. The Swiss franc has therefore lost ground in real value, except when compared with currencies from the euro zone.
