Swissport strengthens market position
Swissport International, the ground handling branch of the SAirGroup, announced on Wednesday it is expanding its worldwide business.
Along with Swissport Executive, the company is entering the fast-growing market of business and private aircraft handling.
Swissport Executive, which is a joint venture with the United States-based Universal Weather and Aviation, is to begin operations in France in February.
A statement from Zurich said Swissport is also to expand its representation in Asia, having received a licence to offer services at the new Inchon International Airport in the South Korean capital, Seoul.
At the end of March, Swissport will begin providing airlines with comprehensive ground handling services such as passenger handling, fuelling and aircraft freight handling.
“A presence at Inchon will considerably strengthen our position in the Asian market,” said Josef In Albon, president and chief executive of Swissport International.
Activities are also being expanded in Latin America and Europe.
Swissport International handles 53 million passengers and services 1.4 million aircraft a year for more than 400 airlines at 124 airports worldwide.
