Canidian wins Biel super-marathon

Switzerland's Arno Schneider crosses the line to win a silver medal in the Biel road race Keystone

The Canadian athlete, Victor Wayne Hickey, has won the 42nd edition of the Biel road race. The 43-year-old covered the gruelling 100-kilometre course in a time of seven hours 14 minutes and 25 seconds.

He was followed over the finish line by the Swiss runners, Arno Schneider and Andreas Bringold. Hickey is the first North American to win the event.

Switzerland also picked up the silver and bronze medals in the women's race, which was won by Germany's Constanze Wagner in eight hours 16 minutes and 22 seconds. Second place went to Karin Stump, while Heidi Aeschlimann was third.
