Carl Greith: Der Heilige Gallus. Saint Gall. Theresa Plut, Soprano. Stefan A. Rankl, Tenor. Claudio Danuser, Baritone. Michael Haag, Bass. Kammerchor Oberthurgau. Collegium Musicum St. Gallen. Dir. Mario Schwarz.

Swiss composer Carl Greith (*1828 in Aarau / +1887 in Munich) took the basic topic of his oratorio from the biography of St Gall as it survives in a 9th-century source. This tale describes in dramatic manner how Fridiburga, the daughter of the Alemannic King Gunzo, was possessed by an evil spirit that was then driven out by the Irish missionary.
