Patricia Kopatchinskaja: Rapsodia (folkloric selections). Patricia Kopatchinskaja, violin; Emilia Kopatchinskaja, violin & viola; Viktor Kopatchinsky, cymbalom; Mihaela Ursuleasa, piano a.o.
Romanian folk music. Still in her early thirties, Patricia Kopatchinskaja is among the top violinists in the world. She has become famous for her bold, expressive interpretations, which seek to stretch music to its limits. Born into a musician's family in Moldawia, Kopatchinskaja later studied in Vienna and Berne. She settled in the Swiss capital ten years ago, from where regularly tours the world. On Rapsodia she revisits the fulminant sounds of her youth, both folkloric and classical. Her collaboration with her parents, both eminent musicians in their own right, is particularly outstanding. The cymbalom virtuosity of her legendary father Viktor Kopatchinsky reaches peerless levels.
