Tillman: Lingo

In 1996, for Swiss expatriate and Hollywood based cellist Martin Tillman, a longtime dream came true when he did the recording "Lingo".

It led him back home to Jolimont in Switzerland where his parents were still living. Here he united musicians from all across the world, whose musical paths he had crossed earlier. For Tillman was trained musically in Jolimont from early age on by his parents, it was natural this group here was named “Jolimont Project”. Within only 10 days they recorded the music on “Lingo”.

From the beginning the intention of the entire project was to form a group of strong individual musicians and blending their unique talents and backgrounds to an exploration of a larger understanding.

It took Tillman two years of coordinating this project and to make distinct choices both of compositions and musicians. The goal he set was high. He wanted no less than combining a classical string quartet, a rock band, Indian tablas and exotic percussion. The exhilarating result was an open minded ambient groove album.

The musicians

The musicians of this project originated from Switzerland, the United States, England, Greece and Canada and have worked since with greats like Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, Chicago, the Vienna Art Orchestra a.o.
