When the Swiss Open tennis tournament in Gstaad ends on Sunday, celebrated Swiss chefs will be striving to serve up their best performances.

The week-long “Saveurs” event boasts an all-star lineup of award winning chefs, including Philippe Chevrier, who was named chef of the year by GaultMillau.

Following the tennis final on July 14, spectators can book a table at the Palace hotel where Chevrier, who runs the “Domaine de Châteauvieux” outside Geneva, will play guest chef. Dinner, including wine, coffee and a Davidoff cigar costs SFr325 ($218).

Cooking philosophy

A painting by Rolf Ziegler will be unveiled at the Park Hotel the following evening. Ziegler’s work is intended to reflect the philosophy of chef Martin Dalsass who will be bringing his culinary expertise from the Lake Zurich restaurant, “Ermitage am See”.

Dalsass will be among the star chefs preparing a farm breakfast the next morning on top of a mountain. Breakfast will be served around a large copper pot, which a local farmer uses to make his mountain cheese.

The weeklong event ends on June 20 with dinner in the Hotel Bernerhof and a classical concert in the chapel of Gstaad.
