Schnyder makes Antwerp semis
Switzerland's Patty Schnyder is through to the semi-finals of the Antwerp tennis tournament, while compatriot Marc Rosset had less to cheer about in France.
Schnyder played a difficult three-set match against Denmark’s Eva Dyrberg to book her place in the semi-finals.
The Swiss lost the first set 4-6, but managed to level the score at one set all by taking the second 6-3. The third set was closely fought, but Schnyder held on to take it, and the match, 7-6.
Rosset knocked out
Rosset lost his quarter-final match against defending champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov. The Russian beat the three-times winner in straight sets 6-3, 7-6.
“The key to the match against Marc was to stay totally focused,” Kafelnikov said. “One or two points decided the match so it was crucial to stay remain on guard.”
Kafelnikov is due to face Sweden’s Thomas Enqvist in the semi-finals.
