The police in Lecce said the suspects arrested in the Salento region are believed to belong to the clan, Donadei di Parabiti.

Investigators traced the seizure of large amounts of hashish, cocaine and heroin at the Italy-Swiss border in late 2009 to the clan. The arrested were also caught in possession of weapons and munitions.

Other suspected members of the clan were taken into custody in different communities in the Apulia region. And an international arrest warrant has been issued for four further suspects believed to be in Switzerland.
