At a Radical Party assembly in Basel, delegates voted unanimously against an initiative for greater direct democracy launched by Denner, a supermarket chain.
It also voted for a pro-choice stance on abortion, with just 2 votes out of 158 calling for a ban on abortion.
At its assembly in canton Uri, the Christian Democrats also unanimously voted against the Denner initiative. The initiative, to introduce quotas for female employees in government bodies, was rejected by 144 votes to 44. A justice reform programme was approved by the Christian Democrats without opposition.
