Health Office steps up swine flu monitoring
The Swiss health authorities are setting up a hotline to advise people on the potential dangers of a human swine flu virus.
The service is available as of Monday, according to the Federal Health Office.
It added that it was closely monitoring the outbreak of the deadly disease in Mexico amid fears of a potential pandemic.
However, there is no risk of the flu spreading in Switzerland at the moment, a statement said on Sunday.
More than 100 people are believed to have died from the virus in Mexico.
Several countries around the world have reported new suspected cases, while the United States has declared a public health emergency over swine flu.
The Geneva-based World Health Organization has declared the flu a “public health emergency of international concern” that could become a pandemic.
