The Swiss foreign minister, Joseph Deiss, arrived in Ukraine on Sunday for a two-day visit expected to focus on aid, security and European integration.

Deiss opened his tour with a visit to a legal studies centre funded by Switzerland. He also met Ukraine’s justice minister, Suzanna Stanik, and discussed improving judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Swiss assistance to Ukraine, with a budget of SFr4 million, also covers economic development, social development, and conflict prevention.

On Monday, Deiss is due to meet his Ukrainian counterpart, Anatoly Zlenko, for talks on bilateral relations, regional security, and Ukraine’s attempts to join the European integration process. He is also expected to sign two accords covering transport and double taxation.
