Parliament wants tougher child pornography laws
The Swiss parliament wants the government to crack down harder on child pornography.
The Senate followed the House of Representatives in approving a motion demanding that so-called “child grooming” be made a punishable offence.
Child grooming is considered an action undertaken by an adult to form a relationship with a child with the eventual intent of having sexual contact.
The Senate also voted in favour of a proposal to make virtual depictions of child pornography illegal, and called on the government to ratify without delay the cybercrime convention of the Council of Europe.
The convention lays down guidelines for all governments wishing to develop legislation against cybercrime.
