You've got mail... from your psychologist

Some psychologists in Switzerland are offering a new online appointments service as a quicker and more convenient alternative to office visits.

This content was published on August 10, 2009 - 10:50

Appointments can take place by email, instant messaging or telephone, the website, psy-help-online.ch, says.

Would-be patients will have the option of choosing from experts with different areas of specialisation including depression, anxiety, burnout, relationship problems, addictions and sexuality issues.

They will have the option to speak anonymously with the psychologist.

The website has been approved by the Federation of Swiss Psychologists.

Clients must first register and pay a fee before setting up an appointment. An email session lasting 30 minutes or a 25-minute session using the telephone or instant messaging costs SFr95 ($89).
