ABB is in expansive mood Keystone Archive

ABB Building Technology, a unit of technology group ABB, is to take over the Bern-based electrical and telecom installation group Arnold AG.

Arnold, which employs 56 people, has been operating in this field for about 50 years. In 2000, it achieved sales worth SFr11 million ($6.4 million).

ABB Building Technology said in a statement that it would retain all the staff as well as Arnold’s Bern site.

“Incorporation of the new company makes an ideal addition to the existing business of ABB Building Technology,” the company said. “It represents a strategic and geographical extension of the group’s portfolio.”

ABB Building Technology works in the field of electrical installation supply in Switzerland. It handles electric power, communications and infrastructural needs in commercial and residential property construction, including technical building maintenance. It employs around 1,600 staff.
