ABB continues efforts to re-focus business

The Swiss-Swedish engineering group, ABB, is buying the French automation company, Cellier.

Analysts say the move is a further step in the company’s strategy of focusing on high-margin technology businesses. The cost of the deal was not disclosed.

Cellier designs and installs production units as well as industrial process and control systems for the paper, lubricants, paint, oil and chemical industries.

It also delivers software that allows control systems made by different companies to communicate with each other. Cellier has a workforce of about 175 people.

ABB says the acquisition broadens its product range and opens new market opportunities for other ABB products.
