Crash victims arrive home in Switzerland
Five tourists injured in a coach accident in southern Turkey were flown back to Switzerland on Tuesday by the Swiss Air Rescue service, Rega.
Three people were killed and 47 injured after the coach crashed en route to Antalya on Sunday evening.
A further 35 tourists, including 31 with light injuries, arrived in Zurich on a Belair chartered aircraft later on Tuesday.
The injured were taken by ambulance to hospitals in German-speaking Switzerland for treatment.
The cause of the crash remains unclear. Weather conditions were poor at the time, and the road was wet.
The coach was carrying 50 passengers, all resident in Switzerland, when it careered off the road and flipped over.
The three people killed in the crash include a Turkish couple, who were living in Switzerland, and a man whose nationality is not yet known.
Rega sent an air ambulance to Antalya on Monday, equipped with two medical teams and psychologists to take care of the wounded.
The trip in the Antalya region was organised by the Swiss-based Castell travel agency. It said that the coach in question belonged to a Turkish operator and was a “recent model”.
