Jobless rate heads in the right direction again
Switzerland's unemployment rate fell to 1.9 per cent in February or 69,766. The decline comes as welcome news after a slight rise in the jobless rate in January.
Analysts say the figures continue to reflect the strength of the economy and the country’s tight labour market. Several sectors continue to suffer from a lack of suitable workers.
The February unemployment rate was in line with the expectations of most economists.
The fall in unemployment was particularly marked in canton Valais where it fell 0.6 per cent to 2.8 per cent.
