The deer and steamboat

Five other restaurants and hotels received special mention from the jury.
The “Dampschiff” (Steamboat) in Thun, the Hotel de la Gare in Courgenay, the Schweizerhof in Lucerne, the restaurant Zwyssighaus in Bauen and the Hotel Hirschen (Deer) in Beromünster.
The Dampschiff – Thun
Named for the “careful and loving restoration of the building and the re-opening of the restaurant with attention to the historical details”.
Hôtel de la Gare – Courgenay
Listed for the “commendable restoration of the building and interior as well as the traditional use of the hotel”.
Hotel Schweizerhof – Lucerne
Honoured for the “preservation, restoration and new use of the historical society rooms of the 19th and early 20th century, as well as the complete renovation of the building”.
Restaurant Zwyssighaus – Bauen
Cited for the “rescue, preservation and superior management of the house where Pater Alberik Zwyssig, the composer of the Swiss national anthem, was born”.
Hotel Hirschen – Beromünster
For the first time, the jury also gave an award for a hotel or restaurant’s preservation of antique furniture. The Hirschen was selected for the preservation of two functioning sideboards from the 17th century.
