Kein Teilnehmerrekord aber viel Spass: Beim 18. Zürcher Samichlaus-Schwimmen haben sich am Sonntag 324 mutige Männer und Frauen ins kalte Wasser der Limmat gestürzt. Viele nur gewärmt von einem jahreszeitlich passenden Kopfschmuck.
Bei einer Lufttemperatur um die Nullgradgrenze und 7,5 Grad im Wasser trauten sich einige dann doch nicht und machten einen Rückzieher. 46 Angemeldeten war es zu kalt. So wurde der bestehende Rekord von 347 Personen wiederum nicht geknackt.
Die wirklich Hartgesottenen sprangen an der Schifflände ins Wasser, um die 111 Meter lange Strecke zu bewältigen. Für die Sicherheit und einen unfallfreien Ablauf sorgte ein 40-köpfiges Team.
Wer am “coolen Anlass” mitschwimmen will, muss mindestens 16 Jahre alt und gesund sein. Ein Neopren-Anzug oder eine Schicht Melkfett sind zwar erlaubt, aber wirklich Spass macht es nur in Badekleid oder Badehose, finden die Veranstalter und auch viele Teilnehmende. Kostümierung dagegen ist erlaubt und erwünscht.
Seit 2011 werden Tickets mit einem Zuschlag verkauft. Die Spende von rund 2000 Franken geht in diesem Jahr an Tixi-Taxi, einen Fahrdienst für Menschen mit Behinderung.
