Newell Rubbermaid makes 150 jobs in Geneva

Newell Rubbermaid, which markets consumer products around the world, has chosen Geneva as its European headquarters, creating 150 jobs.

The US company, based in Atlanta, markets brands in three areas: home and family, office products, and tools and hardware.

“It was an easy decision to take,” Eduardo Senf, president of Newell Rubbermaid International, said on Tuesday. “Geneva has a significant international community, a central position in Europe, a pleasant atmosphere.”

Geneva will also become the global headquarters for its writing instruments and luxury items sector.

Of the 150 new jobs, 60 per cent have been filled internally, but 44 have been recruited locally. A dozen will be filled by the end of the year.

In 2010, Newell Rubbermaid posted turnover of $5.8 billion (SFr4.9 billion).
