Credit Suisse has been named best European Internet bank by the Lafferty Group. It placed just ahead of the Deutsche Bank and the Dresdner Bank.

The survey took into account such issues as inter-action, navigation, content, speed and design of the banks' Internet sites. Credit Suisse got 47 out of a possible 50 points.

The bank was also ranked alongside the Royal Bank of Canada as one of the leading international Internet banks. Credit Suisse already won acclaim in 1998 for its on-line activities.

The best placed European Internet banks are in Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia, according to the Lafferty Group.
