Lucerne hosts international festival of music
This year’s International Festival of Music in Lucerne features more than 70 performances and musical events. The theme of the festival is “Myths” and is an attempt to bring together mythology and music in a creative relationship.
This year’s International Festival of Music in Lucerne features more than 70 performances and musical events. The theme of the festival is “Myths” and is an attempt to bring together mythology and music in a creative relationship.
18 symphonies are performed during the festival, which lasts until September 11.
Artistic director Michael Haefliger has given the festival a new direction by introducing a series of concerts by young and new artists under the heading “debut.lucerne.”
Festival goers can also enjoy the “moderne.lucerne” performances which reflect the contemporary music scene, and for the youngest of visitors there is a “Children’s Corner.”
In the “Artiste étoile” slot, there are concerts and workshops by Scottish percussionist Evelyn Glennie.
