Robbie Williams appears on Swiss television
Fans turned out in droves on Saturday for an appearance by the singer Robbie Williams – who is attempting a comeback - on Swiss television.
Williams sang from his new album on the revamped popular entertainment show Benissimo on Saturday evening, just a few days after giving his first full concert for almost three years.
“We’ve been inundated with enquiries since people have known that he’s coming,” the show’s presenter, Beni Thurnheer, told the Blick newspaper ahead of the event. “Everyone wants to work on this day, preferably in the greenroom serving the drinks.”
Williams’ concert in London on Tuesday in front of 3,000 fans set a world record as it was transmitted live into almost 200 cinemas in Europe, including several in Switzerland.
It was part of the singer’s highly publicised comeback. The former member of boy band Take That has previously battled drug and alcohol problems. His last album, Rudebox, in 2006, was panned by the critics.
However, Williams is one of the most successful British singers of all time, having sold 55 million albums worldwide.
