Swingin’ round Switzerland – Jazz, Swing, Blues & Boogie made in Switzerland
Jazz attracted enthusiastic fans and followers relatively early in Switzerland. Towns and cities in particular were fertile breeding ground for the many groups that sprang up in clubs and dance halls across the country.
In addition, the past few decades have seen the launching of a number of festivals, the fame of which has spread far beyond the borders of Switzerland. They embrace all aspects of the music from the traditional to the avant-garde, reflecting the lively and flourishing state of the jazz scene in this country.
This compilation does feature a wide variety of formations from all parts of the country (from trios to big bands) and includes recording old and new, spanning from the 60s to early 90s.
Above all, the purpose of the programme is to entertain by embracing a wide range of easy-listening styles – some with a distinctly Swiss touch.
