The Red Book

The legacy of Swiss philosopher and psychiatrist CG Jung.

“The Red Book” is an astonishing journey into the subconscious dream world of the renowned analyst recorded over 16 years. Jung richly decorated the book with Middle Age-style calligraphy and drawings. The book’s existence has been known since Jung’s death in 1961 but it was never published. The book’s heirs kept it locked up, most recently in a vault. (All photos: AP Photo/W.W. Norton & Company, Inc.)
