Dances of Appenzell. Appenzeller Tänze. Piano/Organ: Theo Wegmann.

Appenzeller Tänze (CD SME) swissmusic

Although Appenzell music is usually associated with the dulcimer and string instruments, in the music history of the canton, it is noteworthy that the names of exceptional musicians keep cropping up who played the piano well enough to give whole 'Stobete' (evening performances) on their own, such as Josephine Alder, Jock Alder, Widebach Jock a.o. Down to the present day, most of the musicians have to hold down a 'normal job' too (farmer, butcher, mechanic etc.) Probably only very few of them have ever seen a conservatory from the inside! Order CD: Special Music Edition, CH-8125 Maur.
