Higher fuel costs lift prices at Swisscargo
Swisscargo, the air cargo unit of the SAir Group, is to raise its prices from November 6, its second increase this year, because of increased fuel prices.
It said on Thursday that it would add $0.05 (SFr0.09) to each kilogramme of chargeable weight.
Swisscargo started its own fuel cost index in May this year, which took May 1996 as the 100 level. The index has been above 150 points since August.
Swisscargo said it would end the second fuel surcharge as soon as the index fell below 130 for two weeks in a row and would end its first surcharge when the index was back under 110.
In the past month crude oil prices have hit highs not seen since the Gulf War 10 years ago.
