The 1999 cup winners were the favourites, and had the added advantage of playing at home. The side virtually secured their victory within the first twenty minutes of the game, thanks to two goals scored by Poland's Marcin Kuzba.

Although Lausanne dominated the game, Lugano did manage to answer the stronger side in the second half. Lugano scored twice while Kuzba secured his hat-trick which sent Lausanne into the finals.

Lausanne will face FC Zurich in the final in Berne on May 28. Zurich qualified last week after a crushing 7-2 defeat of Lucerne.
